Class Description:

 

Sharpen up your skating and skills with this class. Skaters are grouped according to their age and level. The class will cover 1 hour of technical power skating as well as 1 hour of skill development on Friday nights during the month of March from 4-6 pm @ South Courtice Arena. Get better one skate at a time!

 

Skaters will be grouped according to age and level of hockey on ice into 3 different groups.

 

We do not accept any beginners or learn to skate players in this class.

Class Description:

This camp sells out each year.

 

Skaters are put to their paces the week before the try-outs start. Each hour of this camp is specific to the skaters birth year.

 

This camp consist of high tempo skating and skills drills with the focusing on preparing them to enter try-outs with the conditioning and confidence to show their best at try-outs.

This camp is not for beginner hockey players, only players trying out for AAA-AA-A & AE teams

Class Description:

This shooting clinic will strictly work on your required shooting techniques covering the wrist shot, slap shot, backhand shot, snap shot & one-timers.

Players will be cycling through 4 stations working for 1 hour each day in this clinic. Most players do not have sufficient time to work solely on their shots. What a great opportunity to hone on the proper techniques and be able to use a quick release around the net. This clinic is taught by 2 former professional players, 1 current OUA player 1 current University Coach, & current Junior players. Players are grouped according to age and level of hockey.

 We will only be taking 20 skaters (4 groups of 5 skaters) per hour, space is limited...

March Break Hockey Clinic 2023

Class Description:

The March break hockey Clinic will be run out of South Courtice Complex from March 13th-17th 2023. This clinic is designed to give your son/daughter 7.5 hours of technical power skating and skill development on ice during the week of March break. Our clinic has an emphasis on power skating and hockey skills development for 1.5 hrs daily

Skaters will be grouped according to age and ability on the ice. We will have 2 divisions with skaters grouped accordingly by age and level of play. Our team of Scary Skate instructors are highly motivated to teach your son/daughter. The atmosphere will be positive! Skaters will have power skating, stickhandling, shoot to score, and scrimmage, covered in the week long clinic. All participants will also receive a free Scary Skate gift. Friday Nights Pre Season Skates In September

 

Class Description:

These skates will be held at South Courtice Complex on Friday nights for 3 weeks on September 9th, 16th and 23rd 2022

The first hour at 4 pm is for all skaters 2015-2014-2013 birth years. The class will be 25 mins of full ice drills including the fundamentals of skating and 25 mins of fundamental stick skills in small grouped focused activities.

The second hour at 5 pm is for all skaters 2012-2011-2010 birth years. The class will be 25 mins of conditioning skating and 25 mins of skill based stations to allow for extensive repetition of shooting, passing, and stickhandling to prepare the players for upcoming try-outs and season

This 8 week program class is designed for defensemen. Our battle camp with Senior Scary Skate staff who currently are playing Pro Hockey and Former pro players will teach you to compete along the boards, the corners, and the crease. This camp runs from Tuesday August 2nd -5th , from 10:30 am-12:00 pm and is the perfect camp to get your player back into battle hockey/mind shape.

Class Description:

This 8 week program is designed for the skaters who want extra development in the skills department. Stickhandling, shooting, passing, will be covered with specialized Head Skills Coach Ryan Martindale. Each hour there will be 4 distinct groups on ice according to age and level of play. This is a 5:1 skater instructor ratio. The groups are purposely smaller scaled to allow skaters more reps and attention from our specialized skills coaches.

Ryan grew up playing minor hockey in Whitby.

Considered to be one of the best players in his age group. Ryan was drafted 2nd Round 26th overall by the Ottawa 67’s in the 2007 Ontario Hockey League Draft. He achieved an unbelievable 224 career OHL points. In 2007/2008 he won the U-17 World Champion playing with Team Ontario. He was drafted 3rd Round, 61st overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 National Hockey League Draft. Ryan Played 7 years Professionally in both North America and Europe. He was on the 2014/2015 Team Canada Spengler Cup. Ryan is a "Hockey Canada Certified Power Skating and Skills coach". Ryan is a scoring and skills specialist. Ryan is the newest partner in Scary Skate and brings his wealth of playing, scoring, and hockey knowledge with him to pass along to the Scary Skate students. Last summer this class sold out early. Class Description:

 

This open session is for skaters who have under 3 years hockey experience. The skaters are grouped in 3 different age and skill levels. Skaters work on technical power skating for the 45 mins followed by 45 mins of skill development encompassing the core skating skills with pucks. Monday nights 9 week technical power skating development session (limited spots available in each age group)

 

 

Class Description:

-- Phase 1 (5 weeks):
Skaters will focus on the technical side of skating, including edge control, balance and mobility, core muscle movements, and the development of a proper long and efficient stride forward and backwards, pivots and transition with out pucks.

 

-- Phase 2 ( 4 weeks):
Will include movements taught in Phase 1, but will be taught at an accelerated speed with pucks in drill type setting. Players will work on quick feet, agility, transition, overall speed, change of speed, and crossovers with pucks.

This program is designed to give your son/daughter 9 hours of technical power skating on ice. Skaters will be grouped according to age and ability on the ice. Proper skating development will not work if the skater first, is not able to master certain skating skills. If the skater is pushed to work on a skill that is above their skating level the technical learning curve is disrupted. Sessions will be taught with and without pucks.

Class Description:

 

Sharpen up your skating and skills with this class prior to spring try-outs. Skaters are grouped according to their age and level. The class will cover 1 hour of technical power skating as well as 1 hour of skill development on Friday nights during the month of March from 4-6 pm @ South Courtice Arena. Brandon Staal will be the head power skating/skills instructor on ice.

 

Skaters will be grouped according to age and level of hockey on ice into 3 different groups.

 

We do not accept any beginners or learn to skate players in this class

 

Brandon and his staff bring a wealth of hockey/skating knowledge with them. Get better one skate at a time!

Class Description:

This class is a 5:1 skater - instructor ratio working on Technical Power Skating & Skill development. The groups are arranged according to age and level of play. This is a very small private class, and geared to one on one individual learning.

The 8 week program will cover key technical skating & skill development lessons every morning. We only take 10 skaters broken down into 2 smaller groups. This class has a choice of 2 different mornings.

Monday nights 9 week technical power skating development session Limited spots available in each age group due to provincial regulations

 

 

Class Description:

-- Phase 1 (5 weeks):
Skaters will focus on the technical side of skating, including edge control, balance and mobility, core muscle movements, and the development of a proper long and efficient stride forward and backwards, pivots and transition with out pucks.

 

-- Phase 2 ( 4 weeks):
Will include movements taught in Phase 1, but will be taught at an accelerated speed with pucks in drill type setting. Players will work on quick feet, agility, transition, overall speed, change of speed, and crossovers with pucks.

This program is designed to give your son/daughter 9 hours of technical power skating on ice. Skaters will be grouped according to age and ability on the ice. Proper skating development will not work if the skater first, is not able to master certain skating skills. If the skater is pushed to work on a skill that is above their skating level the technical learning curve is disrupted. Sessions will be taught with and without pucks.

Class Description:

This shooting clinic will strictly work on your required shooting techniques covering the wrist shot, slap shot, backhand shot, snap shot & one-timers.

Players will be cycling through 4 stations working for 1 hour each day in this clinic. Most players do not have sufficient time to work solely on their shots. What a great opportunity to hone on the proper techniques and be able to use a quick release around the net. This class is not for 1st time hockey players or beginners. This clinic is taught by 3 former professional players, as well as OHL-CIS-NCAA former players. Our Head Instructors are Hockey Canada Certified skills Coaches.

Class Description:

We are once again running our Half Day “Rep Battle Camp” August 6th – 9th 2019. This camp is strictly for players playing at the AAA-AA-A level and includes high tempo conditioning power skating, stickhandling, battle drills, and off-ice conditioning. Our battle camp will teach you to compete along the boards, the corners, and the crease. This camp runs from Tuesday August 6th-9th , from 8:00 am-12:30 pm and is the perfect camp to get your player back into battle hockey shape.

This class is a 4:1 skater - instructor ratio working on Skating & Skill development. The groups are arranged according to age and level of play. This is not a learn to skate program . Registered skaters must be playing hockey.

This is a very small class, and geared to one on one individual learning. The 8 week program will cover technical skating lessons skill development lessons based on the skaters age and level of hockey.

We only take 12-16 skaters broken down into 3-4 smaller groups with 1 head instructor per group.
